scars

1. Cultivate a compassionate heart
- We have to feel something for what we are doing. We can do anything while we are there but still have no compassion for what God is calling us to do. So we need to follow the thoughts God has placed in us.

2. Developing an Understanding of What the Bible Says about injustice
- We need to understand that God hates injustice, Absolutely hates it. Many of us will ask if he hates it so much than why does he not do more and act against it at the moment? God is like the saying on The Lord of the Rings when gandalf says "A wizard is neither early or late, He arrives percisely when he needs to." I believe God is the same. He knows when he should appear. He has a purpose behind when he comes. God will judge the unjust justly for their injustice. (lolz tounge twister).

3. Take Action
- God wants everyone to fight injustice and make sure we make justice. God places each and everyone of us in different postions in life and through all those positions we can show and teach that injustice can and will be stopped. If we are a pastor teach it, if we are a musician make a song about it. etc.

The think the most dangerous aspects of the trip are getting sick or being around dangerous people. We don't know everyone there and how do we know if they are going to harm us or not? I think that is probably one of the most dangerous things in the trip. Illness is a big one too. We have to do so many things to be sure that we are safe and clean. Using hand sanitizer, being careful for critters. The most difficult one for me would be not eating something from a store and not having ice.
The point he is trying to make to me is that risk is necessary. All mission trips are dangerous and risky. Disease, violence and general danger are always there. He talks about how risk is something worth rewarding if it is for the right reasons. We will not take risks for unnecessary reasons that have no moral or good reason for. Because we are saying to take risks does not mean we need to go and put ourselves in a situation that could mean peril for our lives. We take risk to an extent. One thing that we don't do on a mission is look for thrills. A point made was that if you have to risk, risk only on things that are completely worth it. Do it for a worthy cause. There are 3 things that are advised before risk taking, Be alert, be knowledgeable and be wise. We must know how to act and react to what is happening around us.3

I know for sure that risks will be taken in Peru. It is necessary to have a more succesful outreach. We cannot go in 100% comfort and security that we will be in perfect state the next day because in that case just stay home. We would not be humbling ourselves to the situation of the people we are associating with meaning that we would not know what they feel and completely understand their lifestyle to be able to be more effective in our mission and objective to connect with them at their level. For sure risks should be taken for a good cause and there is already a good cause at hand. Loving the people of this world and telling them about Christ. That is a noble cause to take a risk for. Paul and the apostles had to take it and i believe we live for the same reasons as them and we should do as best we can and more if possible.

A God like aspect about the Jahango is really to me not to clear.. IM not very sure what about them is more crhistlike then us or shows God. I think in the way they play music, its like us playing any type of music. The Galvez family, wow they wil face something so different... they will for sure experience God in a new way, they will have a hard time becoming a custom to the ways of life in the Jahango village.

I think it would possibly apply to me. Personally, i would humble myself to a level were i know that staying with whoever opens their doors is coreect to stay with them. It would be a bit awkward to go into a depressed area with lack of money full of resources and staying in a hotel.

The thing i think we should all learn is not to depend on other people on a missions trip. For example in Africa there will be no way to get support from missionaries in that region, being that here is missionaries there and if anything they would be receiving support. Dependency on a missions trip to a more poor area is not a good idea.

I think the idea serve and servant are connected but still different. If we serve we can be servants to the people but i think the idea of being a servant is the idea of a being a slave to God. It is our mandate to go out and do what we are doing as servants to God.

The questions i hope this gives me more insight on is What does is really mean to be a follower of Christ?

More of What is value? or what should we value? sometimes we think that we need something when really we dont need it and just miss that idea. Im still not quite sure what i am hearing from God.

I strongly agree with the 12th point saying that we should not go back saying oo yeah i did this and that for those people im so great, but we should rather spend time with the people there studying and learning more and encouraging their ideas.
I also strongly agree with the last point thats discusses humility. We should be humble and be servants not only to God but the people we are with.
Honestly I don't any point that i can say i disagree with.
Our individual and team preparation could be characterized by how we humble ourselves and becomes servants of God and the people we are with.

What surprises me? was the racist part, something that we dont look to very often. We will discover our true racists side.
How can we talk about things happening in the world if we have not personally expierenced or bee amongst them.

The outcome that I strongly agree with is the one stating, The world is hungry for Jesus, and there are many ways we can be Jesus to the world. I think that this means we can be like Jesus. We can live by his example. Yes, we can go on mission trips and be like him by doing something extraordinary, but we can also do something small that Jesus would have done. By what we do we can fill the world with their hunger for Jesus. Its important to Christian lives because they need to live the example daily do big or small things.
I hope to provide participants with many opportunitie to share their faith. (This is objectives) I hope for this because what is the use of going somewhere and having no effect on a person so they don't share their faith like you did with them.
Provide participants with exposure to current mission strategies would be another objective because we want them to know what each of us goes through for their cause and also for their own personal experience in life if they are even presented with a situation in which they are to go on a mission trip.
I would hope to give participants a job of assisting a missionary, one because it would be helpful to the missions cause and its for their own personal experience.

In honesty, i really what to see a change for a long time and everlasting time in the church in Peru. Instead of just seeing a weekly change, make it a long lasting thing. I want that for myself on a personal level. I have never been on a mission before. I have ideas of what i may expect on a mission trip like this. I can imagine it to be like going on a normal trip just doing a lot of things. My main hope in this trip to experience something and change someones life.

I want to first explain my disagreement with the point of the 6-8 week change and then back to normal.... I believe that is true. But i dont think it is because they are not prepared necesarily. It is because they dont have a dedication to God to actually do his work as a daily process instead of a yearly thing. Something that is a habit. Something that they do in their own country.

I strongly agree with the 2nd point. It talks about doing something here before somewhere else. I think what we should do is simple. Take out time to do things in our vicinity like we would take time to do it elsewhere. We plan so much for trips that change a couple lives as opposed to doing something here and changing more lives in less time and being able to spend more time with them on a regular basis.

I completely agree with the first point. If we dont act the way we want others to act we will never get anything done. Nothing will ever change and nobody will ever be a true God following, dedicated christian. There will never be a example of how to live life in Jesus footsteps in our society today.

There is one point that is very true. Talking about interpreting the bible in our own personal context rather than its original context. We sometimes stretch the reality and elaborate our own ideas to things that have nothing to do with the moral or basic idea of the text. I think we should take more time to really look into what we are reading and read within the context rather than what we want it to mean to make us happy.
